Terms of use
Last updated: 2 November 2026
These terms apply to your use of CommonControl (commoncontrol.co.uk), run by Akinola Adesina ("we", "us"). By using the site you agree to them.
1. What the site does
CommonControl shows company ownership structures and identifies likely associated companies, 51% group companies, 75% group companies and close company indicators for UK corporation tax, using public information from Companies House.
2. Not tax advice
The site is a research aid. It is not tax, legal or accounting advice and does not create a professional relationship. Results labelled "Counted", "Please check" or "Probably not" need your own professional judgement. You are responsible for any return, computation or decision you make, and should take professional advice where needed.
3. Limits of the information
- Results depend on what has been filed at Companies House. Filings can be late, incomplete, out of date or wrong, and we can't correct them.
- The register does not show everything relevant to the tax rules, including rights to income and capital, family relationships, commercial interdependence, holdings below 25% where no full shareholder list exists, and most overseas companies.
- Matches between records for the same person are estimates and are labelled as such.
- Information you add yourself is not checked by us.
- We show the date and time the information was retrieved. Check the linked Companies House records before relying on any result.
4. Our liability
- The site is provided free of charge, "as is", without any promise that it is accurate, complete or available.
- To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of the site or reliance on its results, including tax, interest, penalties, lost profit or professional fees.
- Where paid features are offered, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
- Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited by law.
5. Acceptable use
You must not:
- use the site to harass, stalk, target or build profiles of individuals
- scrape, bulk download or automate requests to the site
- try to disrupt the site or get around its limits
- use the site for anything unlawful
We may block access if these terms are broken.
6. Your information
What you type into the site stays in your browser. See our privacy notice for how we handle personal data from the register.
7. Intellectual property
Company information comes from Companies House and is subject to its terms of reuse. Contains public sector information from Companies House. The site's design, code and content are ours.
8. Changes
We may change the site or these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version.
9. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
